Hi all!! I’m Tommy a born naturist, never really been a textilian ano had the need for clothing!! Lived in Australia for 24yrs, had a Caravan at a naturist resort. me and my ex wife and our daughter who was 2 at the time spent almost 6 months a year living there. Then moved to India, where you had to be discreet when bathing. But could still find some nice places , then we moved to France, wonderful place as a naturist!! Then me and my daughter moved to Sweden we had the lakes as long as it was secluded and also had 1 official clothing optional beach!! (why On earth can’t they call it a naturist beach? 🧐
Now we have moved to Gozo and there is no more taking a caravan and driving to Denmark and Germany from Sweden but to cold up there 🥶 !! So happy to have found a group of likeminded friends here in Malta/ Gozo
Welcome Tommy to the Naturist Group. I agree with most of what Richard said But I think that the great enemy to naturism in Malta is the mindset of the major part of the population who do not accept a naked body and tend to associate it with shame , ridicule or something weird. The Maltese have opened up on many fronts that were once considered taboo, but on nudism much remains to done on awareness and education. On the other hand , you will find also some like-minded Maltese and Gozitans and foreign residents. I did not expect to find a sizeable number throughout the past 5 years when I dared to practice naturism on the island. This is the aim of the website - to bring like-minded people together.
Maybe we meet one day in Qala.
Thank you so much for the In depth explanation of how our situation is on the island and naturism in general in Malta. I’m glad to become a member and have many new ideas how we can fight for our rights and freedoms.
Hi Tommy, welcome to Gozo. I'm afraid you're going to find Malta a bit a a challenge where Naturism is concerned as it is one of the few countries in Europe that regards nudity as a heinous sin and a crime. Religion and the Catholic Church still have a major hold over legislation and enlightenment! Having said that, the younger generation are driving a change in the culture and the Monsigneurs no longer wield the power they used to. But, and it's a big BUT, social nudity is still a criminal offence and much frowned upon by many locals, particularly the Maltese, young and old. The Gozitans, however, with a few notable exceptions, are more tolerant! In recent years, I found it easier to practice Naturism in and around Gozo. Several areas of the coast and one or two beaches have become semi-accepted as 'clothes optional' although July and August tended to make life more difficult with more and more Maltese coming over from the mainland. Covid-19 has exacerbated this greatly. Unable to travel abroad so freely, the Maltese are no coming to Gozo in greater numbers and for many more months of the year. Many have boats and jetskis which give the access to the more remote parts of the island where we could sumbathe and swim naked. They, the Maltese, seem to be much more adverse to Naturism than the locals and can become very vocal, abusive and even violent towards Naturists. They are not the older generation but generally younger, affluent and very noisy 30 to 40s. They, and the other anti group, the hunters, are to be avoided at all costs! However, do not despair. Gozo is a beautiful island with many possibilities for Naturism. As we overcome the challenges of Covid and gain strength as a group, perhaps we can persuade the Maltese that Naturism is not only harmless but healthy and beneficial with a growing market for tourists from the rest of Europe. Welcome to the Group. Rich
